'I believe in soulmates or soul to soul connections with a few special people. My thoughts are that they see who we are and accept us as we are. I think they reflect the best part of ourselves back to us. So not like a mirror but still some kind of echo. That is what this little picture is about. That reflection and recognition that still allows for differences in the two halves. This is a cold wax painting which allows for a gradual building up of colours and textures. Very often when I use this medium with my oils, I don’t really know how the picture will turn out. It generally starts to emerge after a lot of experimentation and playing.'
