'This is a vibrant, rich and energetic cold wax and oil painting. I was inspired by this quote from Frederik Beuchner - "Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Do not be afraid.” While working on the painting, I was also listening to U2 and these lyrics were playing and definitely also had an impact on the direction or the artwork - "If there is a light, we can't always see. If there is a world, we can't always be. If there is a dark, now we shouldn't doubt. And there is a light. Don't let it go out.” I wanted to create that hopeful, desperate chaos. The tension between light and dark, and hope and terror is sometimes where we find ourselves. It takes courage to face the chaos in our lives and still see the beauty in it.'
