'In October 2018 I had the opportunity to visit several galleries in Door County, Wisconsin. Several paintings that I was very drawn to were made with cold wax and oil. I had never heard of it before so I made sure to buy a can of cold wax before leaving America. Cold wax is basically a translucent, buttery oil painting medium made from bees wax and a siccative that makes sure it dries quite quickly. As luck would have it, I got home and found that an artist friend was hosting a workshop on working with cold wax. I signed up and this painting below was one of the first completed pieces that got started in the workshop. I was not setting out to create a particular image but once I had added the white marble powder it did definitely feel like it could be an expressionist landscape and that is where the name came from.
